It's so important to be aware of our language and how we say something. Here's a quick, feel-good tip borrowed from NY Times best-selling author Pam Grout.
When you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, turn those statements around by adding "up until now" to the end. For example, someone might say, "I'm having a hard time with ______ (fill in the blank)." Change it up by quickly adding "Up until now" to the end. Now the statement is, "I'm having a hard time with _____, up until now." Try it. Think of something you've convinced yourself you're having difficulty with and add that little phrase to the end of the statement. Doesn't that tiny shift in perspective give you a wonderful sense of possibility?
