When you're feeling like you-know-what

The quote above resonated with me because I was recently in a situation where ugly words had been said. And as the creator of the One Thought Away program, and someone who never takes her band off, I found myself tested in attempting to reach for a better-feeling thought (practice what you preach, right?). I felt hurt, discouraged, betrayed, and sad - all tough feelings to shift. What to do?

I meditated and asked for guidance. I was reminded that our reactions are a choice, and our feelings come from the meaning we attach to a situation. While it would have been easy for me to wallow in the negativity and lower emotions I was feeling, I realized I didn't have to behave as if nothing had happened; I just needed to feel better. This meant finding any tiny thought that would help me move to a better place.

After this experience I am more convinced than ever that we do not have to make quantum leaps in our thinking to feel better - we just need one thought to help us move up. Then we can think one more and one more and pretty soon we will find ourselves feeling better.

I hope you will take care of yourself in this way, reaching for those better-feeling thoughts. After all, feeling good is your birthright.
