Through using mixed media materials & techniques and an intuitive approach, I seek to create visually interesting pieces that elicit an emotional response and stir others to find the courage to explore their own innate creative voice. My Artwork is characterized by visual texture achieved through intuitively building layers of collage, acrylic paint, gel mediums, watercolor, charcoal, graphite, and feminine imagery. I am a self taught, mixed media artist, inspired by the sacred feminine and the healing power of creativity.
Michelle studied Fine Art at the Cleveland Art Institute, Xavier University, and the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. Since 2010, she has explored a wide variety of online workshops as well. Michelle’s primary strengths are in pencil and charcoal drawing and she has discovered a growing passion for intuitive art & mixed media work that includes collage, watercolor, charcoal, and acrylic paint.
Michelle’s work is characterized by layers of visual texture; collage elements, feminine imagery, feminine symbolisms, feminine themes, and inspirational words. Although she studied art formally to some degree, Michelle is largely self-taught having returned to practicing art in 2010 following a long period away from it.
Michelle finds inspiration in and passion for the sacred feminine and from the tenacity and strength lived every day by women in all cultures around the globe. The intention of her work is to capture the diverse essence of the feminine – the soft, the fierce, the brave, the nurturer, the goddess, and all that lies in the depths of being female - through dynamic imagery and mark making.
