Soulku's mission is to Empower Women - women who want to connect with themselves and the other women in their lives on a deeper level. Founders Allison and Elisa not only want to empower their customers, they want to empower their friends, too. So they created a business model that employs stay-at-home moms who handcraft all of the pieces from their own homes, on their own time frame and most importantly earn a thriving wage. Each piece is attached to a beautiful card which explains the power of the gemstone and is signed by the "Mama" who created it.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, they used the world’s challenges as pure inspiration and motivation for empowering themselves and women everywhere. As a mother-owned and operated business, Allison and Elisa feel a responsibility to do the right thing. They work with local vendors whenever possible, from graphic design and printing to gemstone suppliers. All printing is on paper that is FSC certified and they use only eco-friendly packaging. And each year they share a percentage of their proceeds with non-profit organizations who empower women through service and kindness, such as Our Voice (providing rape crisis services and sexual assault prevention education) and The Hope Chest (support for women with breast and gynecological cancers).
The word “Ku” in Japanese translates to “a place of infinite possibility.” And that is how they see their company: as “A place where, guided by our soul’s calling, anything is possible."
Why We Love this Jewelry: We love any product with a mission and Soulku is certainly that! Finding a company that employs stay-at-home moms (you can visit their website to "meet the Mama's") and contributes to organizations that empower women, makes them a real gem (no pun intended!) in our book! Best of all, these simple yet beautiful necklaces and bracelets carry intention, purpose and are infused with "love, song and prayer," and the feel of a single stone at your throat or on your wrist is quite empowering. It's the kind of jewelry you put on and never take off!
